Moisture-related problems—whether from installation issues or natural causes—are the leading source of tile application failures. This course focuses on how Cement-Coated XPS foam can completely manage moisture while providing a high-performance tile substrate. Key areas of emphasis include shower floors and walls for both residential and commercial applications.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the characteristics of Extruded Polystyrene Foam (XPS) and its uses in tile applications.
- Learn about the types of products that can be produced with Cement-Coated XPS, and how these products create a 100% waterproof tile application.
- Recognize the effects of water and moisture damage to tile applications that are not 100% waterproof.
- Review proper installation methods for Cement-Coated XPS substrates, and how these methods support a fully waterproof system.
