November 15th – AIA Event – The History of American Millwork & Mouldings 1740-1960

Presented by Brent Hull, Historical Millwork expert. This will be an overview of mouldings and millwork, studying and contrasting both the pre-industrial and post-industrial mouldings.

ABOUT BRENT, THE DESIGNER OF THE WINDSORONE CLASSICAL AMERICAN MOLDING COLLECTION

“Brent Hull founded Hull Historical Millwork, Ft. Worth, Texas, in 1993 after graduating from the prestigious North Bennett Street School in Boston. He began his career restoring pre-1940 homes, moving into providing doors, windows and moldings for historic buildings as demand for authentic and accurate millwork increased. Discovering that there was no definitive resource for historic millwork to verify authenticity, Brent found he was not alone. Architects, builders, carpentry enthusiasts and homeowners all shared his frustration about the lack of resources for historic millwork design. In response, Brent embarked on a search for the lost art of millwork manufacturing. Collecting more than 70 trade catalogs from millwork firms around the country within the period of 1870 to 1945, he now has over 300 millwork catalogs and over 2,000 books in his library. In addition to his Hull Historical Molding Catalog, a respected resource in chronicling historical moldings, Brent has also written Historic Millwork: 1870–1940. A frequent public speaker and lecturer, he is an expert in the area of historically accurate moldings and millwork detail. To learn more visit: BrentHullCompanies.com
